Kuba Velvet
by Mokum

Quartz

Kuba Velvet pays homage to Kuba textiles which are unique to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and renowned for their complexity of design and surface decoration. The majority of Kuba Cloths, as they are referred too, are a variation on rectangular or square pieces of woven palm leaf fibre, edged in geometric embroidery designs and cut to form pile surfaces, which resemble velvet. Our Kuba Velvet has a luminous viscose pile, edged in uncut loops and sits on an elegant cotton ground, replicating the tone of these classic African textiles.
