Trend & Inspiration

We are interested in what fabric can bring to life. This journal is a celebration of the lifestyle, culture and design that influences what we do.

Our textile designers at build their vision and design cues through being in-tune with dominant global trends and how they are translated into our local culture and environment. Inspiration comes from a variety of channels such as international fashion, product and interior design art and architecture, and attending key trade and lifestyle events.

We asked Stephanie Moffitt, Mokum Design Director about the Studio’s inspiration for the latest collection, Club Tropicalia, she helpfully provided context to the theme of Visual Optimism.

"In repsonse to this, Mokum has brought the key themes from the indoor range into the outdoor space."

The Mokum design studio take us behind the scenes, unveiling the bespoke design process involved in creating the original prints from their latest La Primavera collection, Papillon and Peonia. We also gain further insight into the source of inspiration for these two beautiful designs.

I love the outdoor fabrics on indoor pieces – it’s so nice to be able to give clients that level of confidence in maintaining fabrics, especially when there are little ones.

More and more we see the demand for high performance upholstery fabrics that can withstand the usage and requirements for both residential and commercial interiors.

Outdoor fabrics need to be durable and resistant to all types of climatic conditions; however they also need to have a soft hand and complimentary designs. We take a look at the benefits of outdoor textiles and the wide range of fabrics on offer to suit any outdoor living space.

"Our Southern Hemisphere summer is in full swing and the majority of us are spending a lot of time relaxing outdoors. The antipodean lifestyle embraces the benefits of outdoor living spaces and the furniture that defines these spaces."
