Pink Ribbon Lunch

May is breast cancer awareness month, so we went pink for the day and hosted our first ever Pink Ribbon lunch to support the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

Breast cancer is something we hold close our hearts as it affects so many women every day. Around 3,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in New Zealand every year, that’s around nine women every day. This year, the Breast Cancer Foundation are putting all the money raised into lifesaving research and support to Kiwi’s who are affected. We wanted to contribute and support this amazing cause so we took action and held our first ever Pink Ribbon lunch!

On the menu was delicious gourmet burgers, fruit and sweet treats. The lunchroom at our Penihana Distribution Centre was decorated to theme with pink balloons, streamers and tinsel. We felt this lunch was a great chance to get the community together, so we invited our neighbouring businesses, with Honda and New Milk joining us to support the cause.

In total we made almost 200 burgers and raised around $1700!! We would like to thank our amazing sponsors Wild Wheat, Pak N Save Mt Albert, Lynnmac Meats Ltd and Sabato for their generous donations which made this lunch possible. We would also like to thank our JDG team and neighbours for their support and contribution.

Let’s help find a cure!

You can help find a cure and improve the lives of those affected by breast cancer by donating to the Breast Cancer Foundation here.
