Graduate Hotel, Providence
“A hotel that embodies charm, elegance, history and tradition with a strong, youthful spirit.”
Each property celebrates the optimistic energy of its community, and Graduate Providence is no exception. Formerly the Providence Biltmore hotel, Graduate Providence is bursting with old school charm and grace, featuring a lobby that ties together elements of humour, mystery, and history.
An historic venue, the interior upgrade was completed in May 2019 and features layers of plaid, tweed, and leather, curating the essence of a post-grad bachelor pad.
Design elements are inspired by the rich culture of the local town and the history of local universities, including Brown University, Providence College, Johnson & Wales University, Rhode Island College, and the Rhode Island School of Design.
With history dating back to 1922, the hotel strives to celebrate the classic elements of the property, such as leaving the lobby's ornate ceiling and crystal chandelier untouched. In conjunction, Graduate Providence has crafted statement-making updates to define the majestic, vintage hotel atmosphere, by incorporating bold acid-yellows and deep reds in the lobby.
The textiles specified in the lobby help showcase the wit and whimsy brand that Graduate Hotels have come to be known for. James Dunlop Textiles were selected for the curtains in Vienna, colour Twilight ensuring the space maintains a harmony and artistic energy.
The colour palette and textures are rich and the story telling is meaningful, culminating in a hotel that embodies charm, elegance, history and tradition with a strong, youthful spirit.
