As much as we love pattern, plain fabrics are always going to be in fashion. Offering excellent performance and durability, for interior spaces, plains work perfectly on their own as well as when paired with coordinating prints and textures.
We offer a huge array of plains, from soft sheers to textured weaves and high performance fabrics available in many different colours, compositions and structures, there are ample choices of plains suitable for residential and commercial application.
For your inspiration, we’ve compiled a list of ten of our favourite drapery and upholstery plains by Mokum (in no particular order)!
1. Aurora - Mokum
Inspired by natures phenomenal light display, Aurora is a wide width linen sheer, woven on a fine transparent warp resembling light filtration through space. With its mix of matte linen yarns and soft pearlescent sheen, Aurora's atmospheric colour palette reflects a smoky iridescence which will suit a myriad of applications.
2. Couture - Mokum
A stunning satin drapery, Couture has a touch of stainless steel giving it a modern hammered finish. It is a wide width drapery and has a very glamorous appearance. Woven in a fashionable colour palette, it features copper, emerald and blush tones with the stainless steel giving the fabric a beautiful sheen.
3. Shoji - Mokum
A natural linen look sheer woven in 100% polyester, Shoji is suitable for both residential and commercial interior applications. It has an organic aesthetic perfect for those seeking a natural look and feel. Shoji has a wide width polyester construction and has recently passed NFPA 701.
4. Luna - Mokum
Luna is a wool-linen-metallic double cloth drapery which is wide width and fully reversible. The double cloth creates an undulating surface and recalls the craters and rocky grounds of faraway lunar landscapes. Woven in complex shot colour combinations, Luna showcases a metallic copper yarn on the face creating a mesmerising planet-like glow, which is perfectly balanced by its earthly wool-linen blend reverse.
5. Ocean - Mokum
Ocean is a stunning wide width drapery with a 100% linen composition. It has subtle texture created through weave and colour placement. Ocean is a semi-sheer with a beautiful handle and comes in a range of neutral colourways from fresh light whites to dark greys with a feature seafoam teal.
1. Coupole - Mokum
Named after the cafe in Montparnasse, Paris, Coupole was famously frequented by budding artists and poets during the 1920s. Coupole has a natural look with its heavily textured yarns and is a favourite Mokum core plain. Available in fifteen colours, it has a wonderful neutral colour range and is suitable for heavy duty upholstery.
2. Ficus - Mokum
Ficus is a wonderful textural plain upholstery fabric with texture created through gradient coloured yarns. Viewed from afar, the eye blends the multi coloured weft yarns into a seemingly plain cloth, with a subtle sheen and a soft tailored finish. It has a broad colour range, offering tones of terracotta and oatmeal to midnight blue.
3. Hollywood - Mokum
A luxurious chenille upholstery, Hollywood has a subtle texture, soft handle and elegant tailored finish that suits both contemporary and classic applications. It has a fashion-driven colour palette, with a stunning range of neutrals. Suitable for heavy duty upholstery, it has a strong structure and its texture looks divine when upholstered.
4. Lusso - Mokum
Italian for Luxury, Lusso exudes European elegance. Its subtle and sophisticated colour palette comes from mixing tonal yarn colour combinations, which adds complexity to each shade. Woven in a quintessential Mokum blended composition, Lusso is made of the finest quality yarns and has a soft tailored handle.
5. Twill - Mokum
A casual twill weave is created with textured natural yarns woven on a stria warp. This elegant relaxed upholstery is woven in Italy using a mix of viscose, cotton and linen, a composition now synonymous with the Mokum brand.
