Rufus Champagne Parlour
Named after Winston Churchill’s much-loved miniature poodle, the new Rufus Champagne Parlour in Melbourne is a unique concept in after-dark wining and dining. Interior Designer, Gwenda McDougall of Cashmere Turtle, was tasked in creating a contemporary space that had an olde-worlde feel with a particular emphasis on luxury and sophistication.
For this project, Gwenda used velvet upholstery to give an instant sense of luxury, heightening the glamorous space. Chateau by James Dunlop in colours Lake and Kea covers the diamond-tucked chesterfield banquette and the Italian wood-framed lounge chairs. Along with the broad range of colours available in Chateau; it provided the exact visual and textural feel Gwenda was looking for. A large pair of French chandeliers take pride of place in the champagne parlour and their warmth casts reflection onto the velvet.
For a final pop of colour, Gwenda selected Uptown by James Dunlop in the sensational colour Petal for the accent feature chair. This created a visual link between the custom made lampshade and the mirror on the bespoke minibar, both of which are in the same tone of pink.
The result is a luxurious and glamorous space; the perfect champagne parlour.
